ISP NPP of the NAS of Ukraine participates in central european cooperation in the field of development of technological innovations and energy security

      On May 29, 2023, an international conference dedicated to the launch of the Center for Energy Stability (CESTA) “SYNERGOATOM” was held in Prague. The center was created at the initiative of the European Association for Energy Security (EAES), which unites international scientific and technical, industrial and socio-political efforts to ensure the safe and stable operation of the European energy system in peacetime, as well as in conditions of critical destabilization.

     The conference was held at the Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics of the Czech Technical University in Prague. Organizations representing Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Poland became the founders of the Cooperation Treaty, thus creating the foundation for a scientific, technical and industrial union designed to ensure energy and technological security on the eastern borders of Europe.

       Congratulatory remarks were made by Vasyl Grabar, member of the EAES Supervisory Board; Academician of the NAS of Ukraine, General Director of the Kharkiv Physical and Technical Institute of the NAS of Ukraine Mykola Shulga; Tomasz Kopechny, the representative of the government of the Czech Republic for the restoration of Ukraine; Denys Kurbatov, Deputy Minister of Science and Education of Ukraine; Mykola Lubiv, First Deputy General Director of the Intergovernmental Organization of the Ukrainian Scientific and Technical Center; advisor to the Minister of Science, Research and Innovation of the Czech Republic Taisia Kryvoshyi.

     Other conference participants representing Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Poland included: Jadwiga Emilevych, Government Commissioner for Polish-Ukrainian Development Cooperation; Jakub Maresh, Deputy Head of the Department of Eastern Europe, Western Balkans and Central Asia of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic; Mateusz Berger, Plenipotentiary State Secretary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure of Poland; Oleksandr Chalyi, Ukrainian diplomat, Ambassador, president of Grant Thornton Ukraine; Oleg Godun, chief engineer of the Scientific and Technical Center of SSE “NNEGC “Energoatom”; and Daniel Ozon, Polish social and political activist, founder of the “UKR POWER INFRA” Foundation under the supervision of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the President of Poland.

       On behalf of the founders and partners of the Cooperation Agreement on the CESTA SYNERGOATOM platform, the following representatives of the professional community took part in the conference:

  • Anatolii Nosovskyi – Academician of the NAS of Ukraine, director of the Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants of the NAS of Ukraine;
  • Volodymyr Chyzhov and Serhii Sayenko – Deputy General Director and Head of the Department of the National Research Center of the Kharkiv Physical and Technical Institute of the NAS of Ukraine;
  • Mykola Sotnyk and Vladyslav Kondus – Chairman of the board and Executive Director of the Public Association “Sumy Machine-Building Cluster of Energy Equipment”;
  • Martin Groh – head of the Czech design bureau CZECHATOM;
  • Robert Oliynyk – President of EKOPARK S.A. – a partner of the KEZO Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences, which is engaged in developments in the field of energy conversion and renewable sources;
  • Bronislav Kulikov – Chairman of the Board of EAES, CEO of SYNERGOATOM Group;
  • Maksym Kremin – Chairman of the Association of Veterans of Atomic Energy of Ukraine, chairman of the Union of Veterans of Atomic Energy and Industry of Ukraine (SVAEPU), member of the Expert-Analytical Council under the President of the SSE “NNEGC “Energoatom”;
  • Viktor Shenderovych – expert of SVAEPU, member of the Expert-Analytical Council under the President of SSE “NNEGC “Energoatom”;
  • Dalibor Mateyu – Vice-president of the Society of Veterans of the Czech Nuclear Industry, an expert in the management and operation of nuclear power plants;
  • Jiri Zhdiarek – Vice-president for business development, expert of the technical engineering department of the Czech Institute for Nuclear Research UJV Řež, a.s.

      In his speech, Academician Anatolii Nosovskyi conveyed congratulations from the President of the NAS of Ukraine, Academician Anatolii Zagorodnyi, who supported cooperation between scientific institutions of Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Poland and expressed hope that this cooperation will allow overcoming the consequences of Russian aggression and rebuilding energy infrastructure in Ukraine.

    The immediate plans of CESTA SYNERGOATOM include the implementation of long-term science-intensive projects and innovative technological developments in the field of nuclear energy. The start of the Center opens the way to cooperation with partner scientific and technical organizations of other peace-loving countries, in particular, attracting international investments in the development of nuclear energy based on technological innovations that use clean and inexhaustible energy of nature.
